Photography blog - updates from my photo world

A new section of the site to highlight what is new and changing.

26th November 2008
So not a lot has been happening on this site for a few months, but I haven't stopped taking pictures, I've just been to busy to post them. In the last couple of months all my spare time (and a fair amount of time that wasn't really spare) has been taken up by filming Underwood, my first feature film. Underwood is a supernatural thriller and was filmed entirely on location in Wales, which brought its own set of challenges to the shoot I can tell you! More to come soon as I'll upload some of the pictures from the film as well as a couple of models I've worked with recently.

29th May 2008
I've finally got around to uploading the rest of the photos from Cannes into two new galleries. The first one is a general set from around the festival itself, trying to get some of the atmosphere of the place. The second set is from the Short Film Corner party on the final day that I was there, and is more typical of event photography like corporate functions or weddings.

27th May 2008
I have just returned from the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France and have started uploading the photographs. First to arrive is a set I took on the way home, driving the Route Napoleon up over the Alps. This road is one of the main reasons that I drive down every year rather than go by plane, as the scenery is just breathtaking, and helps to clear my mind after the hustle and bustle of the festival itself.

21st April 2008
On a trip to Brighton on an entirely un-photographic visit, I took a walk along the sea front and started taking pictures. Sometimes the best shots come from little or no preparation and you can capture the essence of a place or event without really trying. Sometimes you end up spending hours to get the effect you want on a handful of shots. This day was definitely in the former category, as I had no clear idea of what I was after, and yet somehow managed to end up with some quite evocative images.
